"Who came first, god or humans"?

I feel like yodena should have been given more screen time since the show started instead of metropoli-mid.
This is actually the first episode I've been excited to see

Typecero • 2 years ago

Good ole “Chicken vs Egg” debate.

If you wanted to discuss things, that would certainly have been a good place to start.

19 episodes in and this question is coming up now?

Meggido • 2 years ago

That's why I really like Yodena

Typecero • 2 years ago

Who knew that when you inserted an intellectual into the conversation you got…

Intellectual discussions?

Strange coincidence I would say.

I wish Psycho Pass had done this.
^sarcasm

Jack • 2 years ago

If you read Fire force these last few chapters this same discussion is happening and oh boy It ruined my experience T_T.

Typecero • 2 years ago

I’ve got a few friends that read that one.

They haven’t been enjoying themselves.

Jack • 2 years ago

It was VERY good until the last 10 chapters I would say now I'm just waiting for the last chapter to come out and continue my life lol.

I would agree with the Metroman arc being the precursor…

If he hadn’t been shot with a Red Arrow during his backstory.

Anytime I encounter a person that is under the influence of the Red Arrow, I have to assume that their words/actions are not 100% their own.

I believe he truly wanted to save his sister, but the part about him wanting to genocide the word, in my mind, was bullshit.

-

Character narrative is important to establishing what that individual believes. We believe a character is this way because they say/do things. We have no reason to discount their words because they are the evidence of their moral code.

Batman wants to save criminals instead of kill them based on his family dying in that alley by the movie theater. He could stop Joker’s reign of terror by killing him… but he knows doing that will make him one of the criminals.

Criminals take the easy route and use crime to get their way. Batman has to take the hard road because it’s his way of life.

-

That gets thrown into question with the Red Arrow.
We even have a moment between Hajime and Metroman where it is stated “I am directing this body double with a Red Arrow. They will repeat anything I tell them to.

While I want believe that Metroman’s arc was 100% his own, I can’t do that knowing over half his encounters were under the influence of someone else.

The author has made the idea of believing 100% of what a character says drop due to how he uses the Red Arrow.

The author assassinated Metroman’s character by having him be under a Red Arrow in the final battle.

We can’t believe his final words because we can’t prove they were 100% his own thoughts/actions.

Batman still make no sense tho. Just how many ppl has been killed by joker, simply because batman doesn't want to kill the clown while the clown always break free. Death punishment is a thing also and apparently Gotham can't do that, not to mention their super high security prison is such a bullshit too lmao

Typecero • 2 years ago

Batman has to believe that justice will prevail. Corruption is apparently so great in Gotham a high security prison is a vacation home to these "I escape multiple times a year" criminals.

Kira Hiro • 2 years ago

i tot agree
he should kill joker
joker deserves death penalty

Kirito • 2 years ago

Metropoliman is the only villain here and after that it's just people deciding who's gonna be god

Typecero • 2 years ago

But he wasn’t truly a villain. He was being controlled. The true villain was the one pulling his strings.

Typecero • 2 years ago

I would be inclined to believe this if he was fully in control of his actions, but the anime has shown us otherwise.

bernd3 • 2 years ago

but wasnt metropoliman in a way also like "praying to god, so he cures his sister"?
like, he didnt try anything himself or with human help but was like "yo, reviving her is impossible, so lets beg god for help".

Kirito • 2 years ago

When Mirai said when he becomes a god he would do nothing I still think that answer is really perfect

Deus The Great • 2 years ago

I feel like he believe God is one of the unknown system or unknown tool to achieve that goal. He never beg God to help, he will become God instead.

Kirito • 2 years ago

Oh no that depressed kid kinda looks like L is now hanging with the doctor yoneda looking kenpachi

Haissem • 2 years ago

Don't forget that this is just an anime, a fiction created by a spiritually blind humans

Kirito • 2 years ago

I was starting to like that suzumu kid and he just died like that man it hurts

GreenTea Gal • 2 years ago

we actually do know which came first tho. the egg, laid by something that wasn't a chicken. same with the god thing. we dreamt him up to feel comforted

Typecero • 2 years ago

I agree with this notion.

The idea that God came first never sat right with me. Would mean they allowed this system of suffering to come built-in.

Moriarty • 2 years ago

What if he did and then gave people the freedom to do whatever they want? Basically now they're living the consequences of their actions. Would you like a God that interfered with people's every day lives?

Düölingöhhh Snorlax • 2 years ago

I mean, if God is a sadistic fuck, why not :3

Kirito • 2 years ago

The chicken always comes first

GreenTea Gal • 2 years ago

false. you're welcome to google that

Gizmo 2024 • 2 years ago

The episode warning came first :P Did you notice that? I wondered what the episode was, and now I see why they had to label it for Japan.

First, a kiddo says he would let everyone have a white arrow, which is paralell to the idea of skewl bang bangs, if you catch my drift.

Then, the adults merk the kiddo... yeesh.

M196 • 2 years ago

how about the chicken not born through an egg ?

Cute Little Lesbian • 2 years ago

Whatever caused everything to exist is God, that means God came first and does exist or else nothing else would exist.

I guess it depends, lets suppose Yoneda's theory is correct, and keep in mind that the idea the author is spreading that thought energy from humans creates deities is not a novel one, nor restricted to fiction though it is a very radical and hard to test/prove one. If you look at the world, all organisms start as a more basic form, the egg being a more basic and simple organism must therefore precede the chicken, even the chicken's life cycle points towards it as all chickens start as an egg, but no chicken has ever been known to transform into an egg. Even humans are like this, except we name human eggs slightly different (perhaps because we'd feel insulted if someone compares any part of our cycle with that of an inferior species like a chicken).

Humans, and all animals, plants and basically all living organisms are composed of billions/trillions of simple cell organisms, which are of the same type as the earliest known/theorized organisms to have appeared on Earth, preceding the existence of complex lifeforms by billions of years, according to the accepted mainstream theories in biology.

So, if there exists any deity, regardless of how it began existing, is it formed of a very basic, simple structure which would account for the possibility of such an existence preceding all known matter, or was it created by our thought energy? It could perhaps be an exception as exceptions seem present everywhere, generally seen as an anomaly they confirm the rules as the saying goes thus the name exception.

Either way, the possibility that the energy from human thought can create matter in itself is both fascinating and terrifying once you consider how negative most people seem to be about most things, if this could be proved to be real then measures to diminish the impact of negative thoughts from humanity would, more like should, become a global concern (unfortunately the Earth is ruled by psychopaths moved by petty greed and self interest, to whom the concept of self sacrifice and altruism seem as alien as these wild ideas re to us).

What do you think though?

Kirito • 2 years ago

This conversation got intense who was first god or human that's a simple question but a hard answer

So what do you think who came first Chicken or Egg lol.

Judgment526 • 2 years ago

He does bring a pretty interesting discussion to the table. I wouldn’t say Metropoliman’s parts were necessarily bad though, just different.

Anime & Rutabagas • 2 years ago

This episode making people rethink religion lol

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 2 years ago

True dat lol

Meggido • 2 years ago

He makes me wonder what he's thinking and I can't predict his next move. Which is intriguing

Kirito • 2 years ago

I really like the hajime arc he's so funny and when he saw the girl with a cat ears he said kawaii

Psychometric Kid • 2 years ago

All replies to your comment make me look dumb, because I can't say anything new to the talk here.
But I like both arcs for now, Platinum End is actually interesting to watch despite the YT people that rant it because it's depressing and stuff. I can certainly say that every episode made me question a lot of things.
For example Metropoliman's intentions and his POV on poor people's existence and life. Not all poor people are sad because of the poverty in my own opinion. Sleeping hungry sucks, but family warms you, don't they? Kanade doesn't have friends and doesn't trust people easily and on the other side we have this Professor Yoneda and his theory that reminds me of my friend IRL who loves science and doesn't believe in God...bUt eNtErEd tHe BaChkOvO mOnAsTeRy wiTh mE?! Anyways, TMI, but I have always thought similar things about God. He is similar and different from Kanade, they talk revealing their ideas, like antagonists? For now I haven't read the manga to see what is going to happen with Yoneda, I love surprises.
He doesn't help everyone, so people often stop to believe in His existence. Maybe in the anime that contrast is shown by seeing how the public doesn't see the God candidates as nothing more of a joke. (And a plot hole that I understand because it's an anime, but Japan's suicide rates causing the angels to spawn in Tokyo. That's interesting ngl)
I can't wait for more of the anime!! ^-^

Meggido • 2 years ago

You don't look dumb bro. Even if it is something someone already comment

N99dels • 2 years ago

i dunno why but i just geussed his whole theory, yodena is such an interesrting guy and realllly wants some food for thought from him but no :( we got subwaypoliman instead

Kirito • 2 years ago

He did said he didn't believe in angels and now there's an angel he believes and that ending song scene yoneda is all alone in that beach watching the sunset
